Sport bets

Back : means buying a bet on a Betting Exchange *

Initial Bank: Sum that you allocate to sports betting; this initial bank must be divided into units.

Certification: An independent organisation verifies, for any SOS BET tip, that the odds provided are effectively available at major bookmakers. This organisation assesses and certifies the aggregate performance of SOS BET tips.

Odds: The inverse of the probability that the event will occur.
A 1.7:1 odd will have a 1/1.7 probability of occurring, i.e. 58%.
By adding the inverse of the odds of the different possible outcomes of the event, one can determine the bookmaker’s redistribution rate. SOS BET will recommend you to place your wagers with the bookmakers offering the highest redistribution rates to bettors.

Asian Handicap: This type of bet sets a handicap on the favourite by subtracting a number of points at Basketball or Rugby, a number of games/sets at Tennis, a number of goals at Football.
Example 1: In an Arsenal-Chelsea game, betting on ARSENAL (-1) means that you are betting on Arsenal winning by more than one goal’s difference.

: If the final score is 2-1 in favour of Arsenal, your bet is refunded.

: If the final score is 3-1 in favour of Arsenal, your bet wins.

: If the final score is 0-0, your bet loses.

Handicap betting can become more complex with split betting, for instance half-handicap (½ goal) and quarter handicap (¼ goal).
Example 2: In an Arsenal-Chelsea game, betting on ARSENAL (-0.75) means that you win half of your bet if ARSENAL wins by only one goal’s difference.

: If the final score is 2-1 in favour of Arsenal, you win half of your bet.

: If the final score is 3-1 in favour of Arsenal, your bet wins.

: If the final score is 0-0, your bet loses.

Lay: means selling a bet on a Betting Exchange.

Losing Run: A streak of losing bets encountered by any bettor, including our analysts. It is essential to reasonably manage these adverse streaks of luck. See the “How to play” section on our Help page.

Money Fan: irrational behaviour which consists in betting on one’s favourite team whatever the odds. The Money Fan is a major explanation for the inefficiency of the sports betting market.

Multiple: Combining several sports events. Besides betting on horse racing, we seldom recommend this form of betting which reduces the redistribution rate of bookmakers.

Over/Under: Betting on the total number of goals scored.
A bet of Over 2.5 = betting on the fact that at least 3 goals will be scored during the game.

ROI: Internal yield rate. The ROI is calculated by taking the net winnings or losses and dividing by the amount betted). If our Rugby analyst has bet 100 units since the beginning of the 2009 Rugby season and has won 32.5 units, the ROI is 32.5%.

ROC: Yield rate of the invested capital. Considering that the initial bank of our Rugby analyst was 40 units, his ROC will be (32.5/30)=108%. The ROC enables a comparison between the yield of your investment in sports betting and other traditional classes of assets (shares, debentures, real estate…).

Market Structure: Bookmakers on one side AND 97% of losers on the other! ALL our ANALYSTS have been strictly selected based on their past winnings and all form part of the 3% minority of winning bettors.

Unit: A means to measure the performance of our recommendations. Each bettor assigns a unit value according to his means. 1 unit could represent between 10€ and 1000€ or even more depending on your means. It is advised not to increase the unit value during the course of your subscription.
